This project started like any other—to solve a problem, or in this case, to meet a need of my father-in-law, Michael Goth. To put it frankly, my wife and father-in-law are the most intelligent people I have ever met.
Recently, I helped Michael transfer his dated birth chart software from an older machine to a new laptop. As many tech enthusiasts will tell you, getting legacy software to run on modern Windows can be a challenge.
I had the interesting task of reverting to Windows 7 (pre-SP1), moving a program originally built for Windows 98—later tweaked for Windows 7—over to Windows 11. Life might have been easier with Linux, but to each their own. After some time, I finally got the software working again.
Knowledge is Security
I am largely self-taught in many fields, theology being one of them, having spent years in independent research and study. Despite growing up with an interest in theology and occult studies, I never gained a deep knowledge of astrology. So, inspired by my wife’s encouragement, I decided to create this project—both to ensure my father-in-law always had access to the charts he needed and to learn something new myself.
From Dino-Tech to JavaScript: Don’t Give Credit Where Credit Isn’t Due
In the end, all I did was read through the old code and translate it into JavaScript to create a functional web application. I’m sure I haven’t reinvented the wheel, but if you find this tool useful, please feel free to share it on your social media. isn’t
Thank you and enjoy, Joshua M. Goth
